Affordable Homes Means Increased Activity for Atlanta Home Inspections

City Inspection Atlanta

The request for Atlanta Home Inspections has increased due to the abundance of real estate activity in our area! The overall  affordability of homes nationwide was  higher last quarter. Atlanta didn't make the list as most affordable, but the Atlanta Home Inspector  has been busy due to historical low mortgage rates, home pricing, and a steady median income for the region.

Affordability of homes means more homes sold. Our area is consistently busy, which is great news for Real Estate Agents, Home Inspectors and the general public.

Good news for the Midwest where 7 of the 10 most affordable markets in the nation are!

The Top 5 most affordable U.S. cities in Q4 2011 were:

  1. Kokomo, IN (99.2% home affordability)
  2. Fairbanks, AK (97.5% home affordability)
  3. Cumberland, WV (96.9% home affordability)
  4. Lima, OH (96.0% home affordability)
  5. Rockford, IL (95.5% home affordability)

These are each considered “small markets”. The most affordable “major market” was the Youngstown, Ohio area, where 95.1% of homes sold were affordable to households earning the area’s local median income.

Not surprisingly, America’s “least affordable cities” were regionally-concentrated, too, with 7 of the 10 least affordable markets located in either California or Texas.

New York City only boats about 29 % affordability, earning the "Least Affordable Market" honors.

Location is always something to keep in mind when buying or selling real estate. Remember when you find that home, please have it inspected.

I am happy to see business is picking up there too....I felt if we could make it through 2011, that 2012 would be a "good" year.
