What do you Know?

 DID YOU KNOW....

There should be less than 4" between baluster edges on stair railings

over 4 gap

A leak at the T&P Valve on a water heater could mean that a thermal expansion tank is needed

                            leaky valve

This is a good indication there are rodents living in the insulation in your attic

 nutty attic

    or....

That having enough insulation depends on your homes location, but 8 inches or more is great place to start!

     low insulaton

Perhaps you knew all of the above. If so, that's super. If not, then these are just a few reasons why a home inspection is important before making that big investment!

Hi David,

A test so early? OYE VEY Really. I didn't know any of them that's why I read the posts of the Active Rain Inspectors to learn all I can. LOL

Always check the measuring stick they insulation contractors install. I have found that many of then have been stapled in place Two inches lower than where they should have been. Always check the stick. ( i know you are thinking, damn i didn't check the stick) too funny.

Have a great day in Atlanta.

Best, Clint McKie

Only two pictures loaded for me. I guess the new 'super slow' load times that AR has instituted made it time out.

I use the width across my knuckes as a quick measure to check baluster spacing.

Nice shot of that leak drip.

Clint,

Great advice about checking that measuring stick. You did give me a moment of absolute panic. After mentally ticking off the attic, I remember checking it - WHEW!!

Than,

Well, BUMMER. I don't know what's up with these pictures. I noticed they were slow to load when I was writing the blog too!

Robert,

Thanks for the compliment on catching the water drip. It did turn out to be a really nice shot.
